Old Town San Diego is at the heart of the story of California’s birth. Spanish settlers established a permanent settlement in this area of San Diego in the 18th century, which spawned the growth and settlement of the rest of California. Both neighborhoods contain a mix of commercial and residential districts, including various types of properties and many shopping centers. Old Town hosts numerous kinds of shopping plazas, each dedicated to celebrating the heritage and history of the area. The historical attractions in Old Town include Old Town Market, Bazaar Del Mundo, State Historic Park, Serra Museum, Heritage Park Victorian Village, Seeley Stable Museum, El Campo Santo Cemetery, San Diego Sheriff’s Museum, Presidio Park, Cas de Pedrorena, Mormon Battalion Memorial, and the Alvarado House.
Residents in both neighborhoods do not have to worry about their close proximity to the San Diego International Airport at Lindbergh Field because there are strict noise regulations and procedures that keep residents from discomfort.
